The incident occurred before the court proceedings began.
Witnesses reported that the man was present to testify in a case involving his friend.
A court staff member, who spoke anonymously, stated that the septuagenarian collapsed suddenly without any apparent interaction or collision with anyone or anything.
“He was in court with his friend and suddenly stood up and fell, hitting his head on the tiles and passing away,” the staff member said. “He didn’t appear to be sick and did not collide with anything or anyone that could explain his death.”
Another witness, Tunde Ariyo, mentioned that policemen from the Enu-Owa police division were called to take the deceased to the mortuary.
Police sources at the Enu-Owa Police Division confirmed the incident and stated that the case has been transferred to the homicide section of the police headquarters in Akure.
