The Minister of Interior in Nigeria, Hon. Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, has described the academic community as a vital sector for national development.

He stated this while playing host to a delegation from the University of Abuja, led by the Vice-Chancellor, Prof. Abdul-Rasheed Na’Allah in his office at the Federal Capital Territory, Abuja.
According to the VC, the university team was in his office to discuss how the institution can partner with the Centre for Migration Studies to enhance the capacity of their officers in line with international best practices.

Responding, Hon. Tunji-Ojo emphasized the need for a nation to invest in research and development, saying, “Undoubtedly, the academic community is an integral component of nation building. Our growth as a nation can directly be measured by the level of investment we devote to research and development”.
