In honor of International Women’s Day, the Police Officers Wives Association (POWA), Ondo State Chapter, gathered to celebrate and advocate for women’s empowerment.
The event, graced by the Ondo State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Abayomi Peter Oladipo, highlighted the importance of gender inclusion and women’s contributions to society as
women are to be celebrated everyday considering their daily contribution to humanity and urged those present to aspire to be inspiration to others.
“If you are training a woman you are training a nation because we have you as our mothers, wives and daughters so we have a mandate to make sure that we honour you”.
The Commissioner addressed the barriers to gender equality posed by cultural and religious norms, pledging to prioritize the interests of women in law enforcement and beyond.

Chairperson of POWA, Ondo State Chapter, Mrs. Elizabeth Abayomi, echoed the sentiment of celebration and empowerment, emphasizing the need for women’s inclusion in all aspects of society.
Elizabeth encouraged women to recognize their worth and support each other while advocating for equal opportunities in socio-economic and political spheres.
Present at the programme is the chairperson of FIDA, Mrs Catherine Ogunjebi who is also the Chairperson of the day; she spoke extensively on the need for women to inspire inclusion, NAWOJ chairperson Mrs Tola Gbadamosi while the the Bank Manager of Zenith Bank, Mrs Morayo Abiodun Ogunloye also talked about how to inspire inclusion, economically, Mrs JJ Joel, a Principal spoke extensively on education while the DPO of Fanibi Division spoke on Security matters.

Also speaking at the event, CSP Bukola Fasinmoye, underscored the vital role of women in nation-building, particularly in security matters.
She urged women to be vigilant and participate actively in crime prevention efforts, emphasizing the importance of nurturing future generations to contribute positively to law.
