Ondo State Commissioner for Youths and Sports, Mr Bamidele Ologunloluwa, has advocated the sustainability of the State’s Summer Tennis Clinic, an initiative of the Wife of Ondo State Governor, Chief Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu.
Anyanwu-Akeredolu launched the initiative six years ago to promote Tennis sport among the young ones through annual summer clinic, where children between ages 4-16 are groomed to become Tennis champions.

Speaking at the opening ceremony of the 6th edition of the Tennis Clinic on Wednesday, the Sport Commissioner lauded the founder for championing interest of children in other sport aside footballing.

Describing the Tennis clinic as very important, Ologunloluwa noted that sports generally contribute tremendously to the development of any society, hence, none should be exempted from being promoted among the young ones.
Stressing the need for continuity and sustainability of the programme beyond Akeredolu’s regime, the Sports and Youths Commissioner averred that people shouldn’t see their support for the initiative as helping the First Lady, but supporting a legacy for the benefit of children, parents and the state.

He expressed the readiness of his Ministry to do everything possible towards the sustainability of the initiative, considering the fact that some young Tennis players have been discovered through the annual tennis training who are now participating in national and international tournaments, under Arabirin Junior Tennis club.
