BemoreOndo2022: Human trafficking lesson, Use of MS Excel, solar panel building and installation top today’s activities

The use of Microsoft Excel to create data chart, building of solar panels and basic solar installation, top the seventh day activities, at the ongoing Bemore summer bootcamp 4girlsnaija, holding at Mabest Academy, Akure the Ondo State capital.

Earlier before resuming for classroom activities, the girls observed their routine morning aerobic exercises to maintain fitness.

Upon resuming for classroom activities, officers from the Nigerian Security and Civil Defense Corps, NSCDC, led by Mrs. Yemi-Faboyo Agbede, lectured them on human trafficking and the purpose why Perpetrators engage in the act, which she identified as for Sexual exploitation, organ Harvesting and hard labour for monetary gain.

She informed them that people fell victims of human trafficking due to a deception of providing them better life in their destination.

She highlighted vulnerability factors to include political instability, poverty, gender inequality and search for greener pasture.

According to her, every individual has a role to play in curbing human trafficking as she listed 3Ps(Prevent, Protect and Prosecute), as a way out.

Faboyo-Agbede used the medium to release contact number of the Ondo State Task Force on human trafficking for the girls to call in a case of trafficking.

ICT training which is one of the major objectives of the program, featured facilitators from the Matrix Lab who first engaged them with a recap of yesterday’s training on Microsoft PowerPoint presentations and its usage to create new slide, do transition and insert animation.

They, thereafter, proceeded to the use of Microsoft Office Excel to create data chart and were taught how to use it for project.

Ashdam Solar team, later on, engaged the girls on basic Solar installation and building Solar panels by dividing them into two groups.

The climax of Saturday’s activities was music class for Bemore choristers,and Taekwondo training, sessions which the Founder of the initiative and First Lady of Ondo State, Chief Betty Anyanwu- Akeredolu participated in.
