..We Recognize Your Importance- Gov Akeredolu
Accountants in the Civil Service of Ondo State under the umbrella of Ondo State Accountant Forum have paid a ‘Thank You’ visit to the state Governor, Arakunrin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu,SAN, over the approval of the bifurcation of the Directorate of Finance and Administration into two departments.
The Accountants had earlier staged a “Thank You” rally in front of the Accountant General’s office close to the government House, Akure, bearing placards with various inscriptions “Thank You Mr. Governor”; “You Are Indeed Mr. Talk and Do”; “We Appreciate You Mr Governor”; among others.
Addressing the large gathering at the Cocoa conference Hall of the Governor’s office, Governor Akeredolu said the bifurcation was approved as part of his administration’s quest to underscore professionalism.
The Governor, who stressed the importance of Accountants in government and private organizations, noted that his administration recognizes the contributions of Accountants to the development of the state.
“For us in Ondo State , we recognize your importance. Anywhere you have a government or run a private business, you hardly see any human endeavor that you won’t have an Accountant.
“I want to thank you for this visit and acknowledgement of the few things we have been able to do as a government. Let me note particularly, that at our retreat in Owo, we have made it clear that it is one administration.
“The one administration mantra should always be with you in everything you do. Professionalism is important. It is our quest to at least, underscore professionalism, that has led to this bifurcation. If there are hiccups , you will resolve it with your Head of Service. We thank you for the prudent management of government resources. The resources are lean now.
“I know you deserve a lot and that is why I decided to complete your treasury building. It’s almost completed now.” He said.
Earlier, the President of the Forum in the state, Mr. Ayodele Ojo who spoke on behalf of the Forum, acknowledged the various achievements of the Akeredolu led administration in the last five years.
He said:”We are here today to thank God on your behalf and on behalf of the people of Ondo state. We are here to acknowledge your various achievements in Ondo state and the country at large.
“We recognize your achievements on Security. We have been able to sleep with our two eyes closed since you championed Amotekun. On health, you have done so well.
“In the area of infrastructure, the quality of work you have done is there for everyone to see. What you have been doing for civil servants in the state despite the dwindling resources is commendable.
“We want to thank you that the journey of 21 years ago which we started, we thank you for using your power as Governor to answer our prayers. We are assuring you sir that we will give our utmost support in terms of service delivery.” He said.
The state Accountant General, Mrs. Toyin Oni appreciated the Governor for granting an approval for their long years agitation.
“I want to appreciate you for this approval that you have given. It has taken so long. We don’t take it for granted. Beyond given approval, you have been a leader that we are very proud of in the Southwest.” She said.
Present at the visit were Retired Accountant Generals and past Labour leader including; Chief Ayo Oloruntuyi; Pastor Oyekan Arije; Mrs Folake Ogunika;Dr. Lawrence Ibukun among others.
