National Women’s groups body honours Ondo NAWOJ Chair with Meritorious Award

The National Council of Women Society in Nigeria, NCWS, has honoured the Ondo State Chairperson of the Nigerian Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Mrs. Doris Olumoko, with a Meritorious award.

She was decorated with this award at an event organised by the national women body, today, held at the Maryam Babangida Auditorium of National Centre for Women Development, Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory.

Doris Olumoko, who took over the mantle of leadership as Ondo NAWOJ Chairperson in the year 2018, was nominated for the award in consideration of programmes her administration initiated towards the betterment of women, especially widows, vulnerable children and Gender advocacy programmes.

Responding to the award, Mrs. Olumoko, who mobilised women groups in the state on a peaceful protest against the rejection of gender bills by the National Assembly, said: “This is in recognition of the modest contribution of the Nigeria Association of Women Journalists, NAWOJ, Ondo State under my leadership as Chairperson.

“I humbly dedicate this award to the resilient executive and the entire members of NAWOJ Ondo State chapter in particular, and the entire women journalists in Nigeria”.

She, therefore, appreciated NCWS’s State President, Mrs. Jumoke Aborode, for her support and recognition of NAWOJ’s activities since she(Olumoko) took over.
