SECURITY: ONDO/EKITI CUSTOMS COMPTROLLER SEEKS STRONGER SYNERGY WITH NSCDC

The need to strengthen Inter-agency collaboration to fortify the Security architecture of the State cannot be undermined as spelt out during the visit of the Ondo/Ekiti Comptroller of Nigeria Customs Services, Dr. H. U Ngozi to the State Commandant of the Nigera Security and Civil Defence Corps, Ondo State Command.

During her address Comptroller Helen Uche Ngozi PhD. said there has been a long existing relationship between the Nigera Security and Civil Defence Corps and the Nigeria Customs Service which hitherto has propelled her visit to the State Headquarters of the NSCDC to seek for more collaborations to enhance qualitative service delivery.

The NSCDC State helmsman in his response affirmed that the current security apparatus needs to be strengthend to effectively combat the menace of borders infiltration, kidnapping , abduction, banditry and other criminalities in the Country.

He said the NSCDC ONDO State Command under his watch will conduct series of Sensitization and awareness program for Institutions, Schools, Communities, Groups and Organizations across the State as this would awaken the consciousness of the people and help to upscale their skills by identifying possible security threats and challenges in their environment.

Consequently, while receiving the State Director of the National Orientation Agency, Mrs Adefolalu Adelayo, the NSCDC State Commandant, Hammed Abodunrin said the National Orientation Agency should intensify her awareness program in terms of orientations as well reawaken the activities of Boys Scout and Girls Guides in Schools.

Abodunrin said the rationale behind the call to reintroduce clubs in our various secondary schools is to allow them occupy the forests through their various activities as being done in the past. This move according to him will enable the clubs to dislodge the criminal elements who have turned the forests that are supposed to be blessings to the entire citizens into safe haven where they perpetrate their heinous crimes.
