Four men suspected to be herdsmen have reportedly killed a 48yr-old farmer Dayo Ibiye, who was a cousin to the Senior Special Assistant to Governor Oluwarotimi Akeredolu on new media, Gani Muhammed-Ajowa.

The incident occurred on Friday at Ibiye’s farm at Ajowa Akoko in Akoko North west local government of Ondo state.

Recounting the incident to newsmen , Gani Mohammed said the fulani herdsmen and his cousin were involved in serious altercation yesterday when the herdsmen started grazing on farmlands in the area.

According to him, Ibiye warned them not to encroach on his farm but the herders insisted on grazing on his farm, claiming that the farm and the planted crops belonged to “everyone”.

It was gathered that he was attacked with cutlass but they didn’t succeed, forcing the four herders to strangulate him when they could not overpower or kill him with cutlass and gun.

Gani Mohammed said “the herdsmen came back today (Friday) and attacked him with different weapons but when they realised that he was not affected, they strangled him to death.”
