
…destroys 14.3 tons of cannabis farms
The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency in Ondo state has arrested a notorious drug merchant who allegedly masterminded the killing of four officials of the Agency in Ifon Division at a check point along Ikaro/ Sabo road in February this year.
The state commander of the NDLEA, Haruna Gagara disclosed this while briefing Newsmen at the end of operation Thunder strike IV carried out in the state for one week.
In February this year, the Ondo state command of the the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency was thrown into mourning, following the gruesome murder of its four officers in Ifon division.
The officers were killed by unknown assailants at a check point along Ikaro/ Sabo road.
Gunmen numbering three carried out the operation with a motorcycle and shot the four drug officers who died instantly.
During the Thunder Strike IV operation which lasted for a week, the command also destroyed 14.3tons of Indian hemp in six camps raided by its men.
Eight Locally made Guns and several rounds of Cartridges were seized during the operations.
He said operation Thunder Strike was designed to reduce drug trafficking and cultivation of cannabis.
The command, therefore, expressed gratitude to other security agencies for their unflinching support during the operation.
