Report has indicated that two Catholic Priests heading for a wedding ceremony in Akure, the Ondo state capital have been abducted along Owo-Benin Highway by unknown gunmen.
A source at the wedding ceremony which is holding today at a popular location along Igbatoro road, Akure, told our reporter that the clergymen were kidnapped on Friday evening (yesterday) at Elegbeka axis of the highway on their way from Awka, Anambra State to Akure.
The full identities of the priests are yet to be known as at the time of filing in this report.
The source said, “two catholic priests coming from Awka diocese for a wedding in Akure were kidnapped around Ajagbale, Elegbeka axis yesterday afternoon.”
“According to eyewitness at the wedding, though some of the bridal train were coming in convoy with the Reverend fathers, only the cars carrying the priests were stopped by the suspected kidnappers and drove to an unknown destination.”
They didn’t even disturb others, their phones were not even collected, they just kidnapped the priests and left others.”
The Ondo state Police Command is yet to react to the incident as details of the kidnap are still sketchy as the time of this report.
