The Chief Magistrate Court sitting in Akure, the Ondo State capital has remanded the randy soldier, Sunday Awolola in prison custody over an alleged rape.

According to the Prosecution Charge Sheet, the 33years old Soldier was alleged of having unlawful carnal knowledge of one Miss Olugbade Olajumoke at military checkpoint in Ikare Akoko area of Ondo State, Nigeria, on 31st July 2019, at about 6:30pm.
His offence, as stated in the Charge Sheet marked, MAK/No/373c, is contrary to section 357 and punishable under section 358 of the criminal code cap 37 Vol. 1 Laws of Ondo state Nigeria, 2006.
The Police Prosecutor, Inspector Adeoye Adesegun applied for the remand of the accused soldier in prison custody pending the advice of the Department of Public Prosecution from the ministry of justice.
But the counsel to the accused person, Kayode Ikotun objected the application on grounds that his client needs medical attention, and applied for his bail promising to provide a reliable surety.
In his ruling, the Presiding Chief Magistrate, Mayowa Olanipekun, however ignored the objection of the defence counsel and ordered that the accused be remanded in Olokuta prison yard.
The case was therefore, adjourned till November 15, 2019 pending the issuance of the legal advice from the ministry justice.
