I’ll make Aaye Regent’s reign exemplary- Mrs. Akeredolu

The wife of the Ondo State governor, Mrs. Betty Anyanwu-Akeredolu has declared absolute support for the Regent of Aaye community area of the state, assuring of her readiness to make her reign attract global attention and exemplary.

Addressing the people of Aaye in Ifedore Local government Area of the state today, Mrs. Akeredolu avowed her commitment to carry out needs assessment programme in the community and provide intervention where necessary.


This she intends to do in order to showcase that a woman can make impact as a head of the decision making table and therefore assured of her 100% support to ensure that Aaye community is a template of development for other communities in Ondo state.


Mrs. Akeredolu after eulogising the biological mother of the Regent, thereafter publicly adopted the Regent as a daughter, saying the responsibility before her is enormous, hence the reason she is ready to assist her to make impact as a young vibrant lady.


“We are going to use this community to demonstrate that where a woman is in the decision table, things go well. We are going to address the challenges of the community holistically including youth empowerment and to also include the young girls in the BEMORE programme.


In commencement of her support promise for the community, Mrs. Akeredolu affirmed that everything about socio-political development will be looked at holistically through a Focus Group Discussion to carry out needs assessment in the community.


She assured that the identified needs of the Aaye community would be prioritised.
“We are also interested in the health of the people living in the community. Getting these relevant informations we make implementation easy”.


Responding, the Regent, Princess Taiwo Agbona described Mrs. Akeredolu as a woman of great value and commended her for all the developmental programmes initiated in the state within the two years in office, especially on women-related policy.


She solicited the support of the state government to rehabilitate the road leading to the community, noting that the bad condition of the road hinders the residents, who are mostly farmers to transport their produce to market.

The Regent also enjoined the government to construct a modern market in the community where their women would find convenient to display their goods for sales.


Earlier speaking on behalf of the community, Chief Emmanuel Agbona described Mrs. Akeredolu as the first wife of the state governor to visit the community since the days of their forefathers.


He expressed optimism that her visit would usher in fruitful results for the community.


“Your coming to Aaye is highly appreciated despite your tight schedule. This shows the level of your commitment and concern to the people who are not in the urban centre.” he said.


The caretaker chairman of Ifedore local government, Engineer Alex Oladimeji assured that the community will continue to support the current administration in the state.


In attendance were the Commissioner for Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mrs. Lola Fagbemi, wives of the Local Government Chairmen, Chiefs, among others.


Highlights of the event include, distribution of Solayo kits and Vitamins to the pregnant women and children between age 0-5.
