Governor of Ondo State, Arakurin Oluwarotimi Akeredolu has reiterated his commitment to the security and welfare of National Youth Service Corps(NYSC) members deployed to the state.

Akeredolu gave the assurance at the closing ceremony of 2018 Batch C, steam 1 orientation course held at the NYSC orientation camp, Ikare Akoko in Akoko North/East Local Goverment Area of the state.

No fewer than corps members deployed to the state underwent the three weeks training.

The governor, who was represented by the state Commissioner for Works and Infrastructure, Hon. Taofik Abdulsalam, said his administration was committed to the corp members’ welfare through regular and timely payment of allowances.

According to the governor, the state government is ever responsive to wellbeing and security of lives and property of every resident of the state.

He assured the corps members that the state was peaceful and loving, urging them to be law-abiding and make good use of the NYSC programme for their lives and Nigeria as a whole.

“Integrate and appreciate the culture of your host communities as well as live in peace with them.

“Refrain from any form of local politics, social vices and shun all acts that can tarnish the good image of NYSC scheme and that of your predecessors built over the years” he urged.

Akeredolu stressed that different skill acquisition programmes they had been exposed were meant to prepare them for future challenges.

“You are agents of change, who must make the most of what has been imparted in you.

“Use the knowledge to improve yourselves, teach others, thereby stem the tide of unemployment because your level of education is an added advantage,” he said.

In her words, Mrs Grace Akpabio, the state cordinator of NYSC, enjoined the corp members to impact positively on their respective host communities saying the essence of the scheme was to make Nigerians feel at home anywhere in the country .

Akpabio also urged them to make use of skills acquired during the orientation course in creating jobs for self-reliance just as she warned the corps members against unauthorised travels.
