NBBF CRISIS MAY CRIPPLE BASKETBALL IN THE COUNTRY -JAMINE

Gladiator in the affairs of the Nigeria Basketball Federation NBBF and stakeholders who have sincere passion for the game have been challenged to put a halt to the lingering crisis rocking the federation which has been negatively affecting the development of basketball in the country.

A Sweden based basketball player, Mr Jamine Berg made the appeal during the 3×3 basketball competition organized by JAMINE in collaboration with the Ondo state basketball association at the indoor sports hall of the Akure sports complex.

Jamine said the crisis if not checked will slow the pace of basketball development in the country.

While accessing the Ondo state basketball players,the Nigerian born Swedish star commended the coaches for tutoring the players but lamented the poor structures, lack of exposure, zero equipment as major factors which could mar the sacrifices invested in the raw talents.

He therefore pledged to redouble his effort by organising the competition twice a year and expand it to more state like Cross Rivers and Akwa Ibom state.

On his part, Ondo State basketball coach,Sola Aluko expressed delight saying the competition has technically helped the players psyche, calling on philanthropists, affluence in the society to invest in sports and not leave it alone for government to handle.

Twelve teams compromising of male and female took part in the championship after which medals and cash rewards were presented to some outstanding players which took first to third positions in all categories.
